Ian Egeberg is an active freelance oboist and English hornist based in New York City. He has performed with ensembles including the New York Classical Players, Musica Viva NY, Orchestra of the Bronx, and the Symphony of Westchester, among others. He has spent his summers performing at Festival Napa Valley, the Trentino Music Festival, and the Chautauqua Institution; studying at the Hidden Valley Music Seminars; and performing as principal oboe of the Manitoba Underground Opera. Ian was the winner of the Catholic University of America Concerto Competition and was a finalist in both the Schubert Club and Thursday Musical competitions. As a soloist, he has performed Quiet City by Aaron Copland.

Ian holds a Master’s degree from the Mannes School of Music, where he studied with Elaine Douvas, and a Bachelor’s degree from DePaul University, studying with Alex Klein. He has also worked extensively with Melissa Hooper. A dedicated educator, Ian currently serves as an assistant and substitute teacher for The Juilliard School's Pre-College oboe reed class and maintains a private teaching studio.

Beyond the stage, Ian is an active member of his union, the American Federation of Musicians, where he contributes to the advocacy and support of his fellow musicians.
